Auto Accidents

You were driving down I-70, another highway or your local street. It was shaping up to be a good day — or as good of a day as one can expect during a pandemic. You were listening to music or a podcast. Then it happened: you were hit by another driver. Were they texting and driving? Drunk? Not paying attention?

Accidents Happen

In 2019, 38,800 people were killed in car accidents in the United States. Every day, about 9 people are killed in the US and more than 1,000 injured in crashes involving a distracted driver. In 2016, there were 40 car accidents each day because of distracted driving. The risk of motor vehicle crashes is higher among those aged 16-19 than among any other age group. In 2015, teens in the United States accounted for 2,333 fatalities and 233,845 injuries due to car accidents.
