Ryan is widely-recognized for his ability to connect with judges and jurors in Aspen, Vail/Eagle, Glenwood Springs and beyond. He has taken over 50 cases to trial in the Roaring Fork and Vail Valleys. When someone’s life, business, or reputation is on the line, Ryan is there. He is at his best when the stakes are the highest.

Although Ryan is an experienced litigator, he is equally comfortable devising smart settlement solutions for his clients. He analyzes the facts and law to develop a custom-tailored strategic plan of action for each of his clients. He educates his clients on the available options and the consequences of those options. Ryan distills complex issues into simple concepts for his clients and uses his experience to guide them in their decision to settle or proceed to trial.

Knowledge & Skill

Ryan first cut his teeth as a deputy district attorney in Eagle County. He graduated from the National College of District Attorneys’ Career Prosecutor Course. As a lead prosecutor in Eagle County, Ryan only lost one trial in 2.5 years. He argued and prevailed in countless substantive hearings involving significant constitutional issues, the admissibility of evidence and felony charges as a prosecutor.

After the DA’s Office, Ryan began work as a private attorney for Garfield & Hecht, P.C. While there, Ryan was mentored and trained by one of the best Aspen divorce lawyers for over four years. He has attended both the National Institute of Trial Advocacy’s Rocky Mountain Building Trial Skills program as well as the prestigious American Bar Association/NITA Family Law Advocacy Institute.

Over the years, Ryan has honed his practice to focus on cases involving personal disputes. He has represented professionals, executives, athletes, Hollywood celebrities and their spouses. He enjoys helping people when they are vulnerable with their backs up against the wall.
