Michael Fox is a Glenwood Springs lawyer whose practice is focused on personal injury, criminal defense and DUI defense.

Michael believes that his best advocacy begins with having a strong relationship with his clients. This enables him to fully immerse himself into his clients’ stories and hardships. He sees himself as an intermediary who needs to effectively advocate for his client’s best result at all times, whether that be to a jury, an insurance defense firm, or a prosecutor.  

Through his experience as a trial lawyer, he understands that to achieve exceptional results in our court system people need aggressive and zealous representation.  

Knowledge & Skills

Before coming to Kalamaya | Goscha, Michael worked with the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office representing the indigent on criminal matters. While working with the State Public Defenders Office Michael took 24 felony and misdemeanor cases to a jury trial. The vast percentage of those trials ending in not guilty verdicts for his clients.  

While serving as a Public Defender, he represented over a 1,000 people accused of both misdemeanors and felonies, including DUI’s, domestic violence charges, assaults, white-collar crimes, aggravated felonies, and homicide. Michael understands the critical importance of strong advocacy when people are facing life altering criminal allegations and he works tirelessly for his clients. 

Michael has undergone extensive training on Colorado DUIs, criminal defense representation, and trial advocacy.  As his time as a lawyer, Michael has represented over 100 people on DUI charges at both the misdemeanor and felony level. While at the Public Defender’s Office, Michael led trainings for new lawyers on the nuances on traffic defense. 


Michael graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder Law School and received his undergraduate degree in International Relations from the University of Southern California. While in Law School, Michael did everything he could to hone his trial skills. He was a member of both the Colorado Law National Mock Trial Team and the National Moot Court Team. As a law student, Michael interned for the Honorable Judge Elliff and he worked for Denver Civil Rights Attorney Faisal Salahuddin.  

Community Involvement

Michael prides himself on being a community leader. While in Law School at the University of Colorado Boulder, Michael served as the Student Bar President, the President of the Student American Civil Liberties Union, and the President of the Jewish Students Union. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the 9th Judicial Bar Association, and the Pitkin County Bar Association. 

Michael first fell in love with the Roaring Fork Valley while he was a student in law school. He worked his third year of law school as a snowboard instructor with Aspen Skico. In Michael’s downtime, he enjoys all things outside. Michael is an avid runner, golfer, skier, and snowboarder.

Michael Fox

Mr. Fox was my public defender over the course of about 5 months between 2017-2018. He was very nice and friendly and helped me out immensely. He was able to negotiate with the district attorney's office and get me an amazing deal. He was very compassionate and helped me out a lot.
