Family Law & Criminal Defense
Jeremy is a trial attorney who specializes in criminal defense, DUI law, and family matters.
Jeremy went to law school with a deeply held ambition to become a trial lawyer. While attending the University of Alabama, he joined the newly formed Mock Trial Association. He enjoyed the preparation and challenges of the competition that helped him hone in his skills as a trial lawyer. He researched National Mock Trial Teams and elected to attend the University of Denver Sturm College of Law recognized among the top 10 in the nation. A school that also afforded an outstanding comprehensive experiential practice program. In his 2nd year as a law student, Jeremy received hands on practical experience with clients charged with various misdemeanor criminal defense matters under the guidance of a Law Professor. A practice that Jeremy continued as an advanced criminal defense student trial attorney. By the 3rd year, he had been chosen by the State of Colorado in an internship program with the Public Defender’s Office.
After law school, Jeremy built over the course of nearly 5 years, valuable trial experience at the Office of the Colorado State Public Defenders’, where he rose to the rank of Senior Deputy State Public Defender. In that role Jeremy represented many challenging cases, ranging from first degree homicide, drug distribution, economic crimes, as well as countless felony and misdemeanor cases. His goal is always to represent the client to the best of his abilities and to the full extent of the law.
As a trial attorney Jeremy has learned the value of active listening and building a rapport with his clients to best understand the client’s issues and concerns. He believes good attorneys take the time to get to know their clients and learn their goals. While he is adept in the courtroom, he recognizes the importance of careful preparation and providing pretrial resources and answers to the client’s questions to insure the best possible outcomes. Jeremy knows that creative advocacy, thinking outside the box, is vitally important to strategy and procedure. Anticipating the oppositions potential maneuvers and strategies can be the key to winning cases before a trial.
Jeremy has been giving back to his community in Colorado by volunteering at the local high school coaching the Mock Trial Team. Working with aspiring teens guiding their career path gives him great joy. In addition to mentoring teenagers, he also has mentored interns and junior attorneys at the Colorado State Public Defenders’ Office. During his mentoring he developed training on Colorado rules of evidence, Colorado rules of evidence child hearsay training, and organizational training to name a few.
Jeremy grew up in the greater Dallas area and has been extremely happy since relocating with his young family to Colorado, where he can indulge their passion for hiking, skiing, overlanding and off-roading in their jeep. Discovering new adventures at every turn in Colorado with his two dogs along for the ride. Jeremy and Lauren share their passion of working with children.
