Elizabeth Rose Hardman Trial Attorney

Family Law & Criminal Defense

Elizabeth Rose Hardman practices adult and juvenile criminal defense, DUI/DWAI defense, and family law along the Front Range of Colorado.

Elizabeth’s passion for law began in middle school when she joined Anchorage Youth Court, a problem-solving court focused on juvenile justice and rehabilitation, in her home state of Alaska. As a teen, and with guidance from a licensed attorney, Elizabeth served as a defense attorney and judge in cases brought against her adolescent peers. From the outset, Elizabeth deeply empathized with her clients, hoping to provide them with a source of personal support and stability as well as a strong voice in the courtroom.

Elizabeth strives to make the legal process as seamless and painless as possible. She takes extra measures to ensure that each client understands the roles of the players involved the case, the expected progression of the case, the extent of the client’s legal rights, and the options available to the client as the case moves forward. Recognizing that she must tailor her representation to each client’s individual needs, Elizabeth listens to the specific goals of each client and drives the case to achieve those goals.

Prior to joining Kalamaya | Goscha, Elizabeth worked as a Deputy State Public Defender in Weld County, Colorado. She represented hundreds of clients, both adult and juvenile, and went to jury trial 13 times on cases involving forcible sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact, assault on a peace officer, assault, domestic violence assault and obstruction of telephone service, violation of a protection order, child abuse, DUI/DWAI, and theft. Despite the inability to choose which cases she took to trial, Elizabeth successfully advocated for full acquittals in well over half of her trial cases. In those cases which did not proceed to trial, Elizabeth fought for plea agreements to lower and lesser charges, lesser sentences, and also obtained numerous diversionary agreements and dismissals.

As a Public Defender, Elizabeth attended various trainings on juvenile justice, mental health defenses, trial practice skills, motion practice skills on Fourth Amendment issues, criminal investigations, litigating access to protected DHS and police records, sex cases, DUI/DWAI cases, and sentencing, to name a few.

Elizabeth received her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and her undergraduate degree in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Idaho.

In law school, Elizabeth took several trial practice courses in order to develop her trial skills, receiving the Scholastic Excellence Award in Trial Practice I. She subsequently mentored high school students in a statewide mock trial competition. During her final year of law school, Elizabeth practiced law as a student attorney representing adult and juvenile clients on misdemeanor charges in the Denver metro area. She received an Outstanding Student Attorney Award from her clinical professors for her work.
